The Geissele Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring and Buffer Combo was designed to improve the function and reliability of your AR-15 pattern rifle. The unique spring design of these AR15 Buffer Springs uses three independent strands of wire, just like the German MG42 Machine Gun. This concept acts as a harmonic damper and energy absorber by allowing the springs to flex separately from each other. This flex helps displace excess energy which decreases the chance of spring failure and assists with making your AR-15 more reliable. Compared to the stock spring, the Geissele Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring and Buffer Combo has a decreased tendency to lose length and force over a given round count. As an added bonus, it removes the annoying spring reverberations (twang) heard and felt by the shooter through the buttstock. The Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring and Buffer Combo has a 15% stronger average return force than the standard buffer spring. This will assist in stripping rounds out of the magazine when operating with a dirty weapon or when using steel-case ammo. NOTE: The Super 42 is for use with Carbine length buffer tubes and is not compatible with rifle length or A5 buffer tubes/receiver extensions. We do not recommend the Super 42 with 300 Blackout subsonic ammunition. The Super 42 Spring may be too powerful and not allow the rifle to function properly. Well made out of quality materials. Geissele lives up to the price tag, would definitely recommend the h3 if you have a severely overgassed system, pistol, or just want to calm down a heavier caliber.

While carbine springs, flat wire springs, chrome silicon springs and whatever choice of buffer will work for most applications some say these braided wire springs will last longer, prolonged use. I haven't tested this to the fullest but these Geissele springs also help reduce the "twang" you'll get from standard carbine springs for sure. One thing of note is the buffers are proprietary to the Geissele braided springs due to different specifications and dimensions, so you can't throw whatever buffer you want with these springs. So make sure you get the right weight. H1 will work for general applications. H2 for shooting suppressed or short boys and H3 for shooting suppressed short short boys for a general overview. Obviously gas length, gas port size, adjustable gas blocks, adjustable gas keys, barrel length, caliber, ammunition are all factors. All the springs should be the same. The only differences are the weight of the buffers. These are top quality products imo. If you buy an aftermarket spring and a H1-H3 buffer you're still looking at $40-$50+ cost so these aren't really unreasonably expensive. Changing your buffer system may be the cheapest way to smooth out your recoil impulse in your AR15 as a lot focus on more expensive adjustable gas keys, adjustable gas blocks, different bcgs and muzzle devices. Geissele Super 42s are what I use in my duty rifles. I do utilize other buffer systems but this is my preference.

Works perfectly on 14.5/16" barrels with a front post non adjustable gas block. Regardless of your setup, you can tell the rifle is overgassed when the shells cases land around 1 o'clock and gassed properly when they land at 3 o'clock. If you have a supressor use the H3.

Weight very weighty and spring very springy. In all seriousness i haven't been able to use this yet but it is good build quality.

I have this on a Spike's lower and a 12.5" Midwest upper with a .073 gas port carbine length gas system unsuppressed, and it's pretty nice, but I still prefer the Strike Industries flat wire with a KAW Valley 4.3oz buffer. This is nice though but there is just something about the SI Flat Wire that I like better, I think it handles recoil better, smoother, and has more closing force. This Super 42 is a heavy spring and sort of flaccid in a way, and I can tell that under recoil. It produces more of a long slow bump against the shoulder as where the SI Flat Wire has a smoother recoil impulse across the whole recoil cycle.
