Steiner 7x50rc are excellent binoculars for unknown distance target acquisition. When looking for targets the ultra clear and crisp glass is great with no eye fatigue over long periods of time. The mil reticle in conjunction with the compass is great for locating targets and describing the location to shooter/spotter. Having a mil reticle in your binoculars, spotting scope and rifle scope makes everything work smoothly between shooter and spotter, everyone is speaking the same language. I highly recommend these to any serious long range shooter.

These binos are solid. They're everything you'd expect from an optics company like Steiner. I used a similar set as a forward observer. Always worked great. My only problem is that I'm left eye dominant. Using the reticle was no problem, but for some reason the compass was very hard for me to read. I attribute this to my dominant eye overriding what my non-dominant eye was seeing through the binos. If I closed my dominant eye, I could read the compass.I wouldn't recommend these to someone who isn't right eye dominant.

Steiner still makes as good a product as they did when Steiner owned them but now that Burris owns them, the customer service and warranty support is terrible. Like 1 fellow said, they say they have a lifetime warranty but just try to get something covered and see what happens. Apparently, unless the lenses fall out in your lap, it ain't covered. I expect this kind of customer service if you pay $100 for a pair of binoculars but not when you pay over $1000.

I have been using these for many years for over night sailboat races, and dear hunting. At night you can see the sails of other boats really well and using the compass, can triangulate positions from known land masses. Hunting with a friend you can spot an animal and note the position on the compass, hand the bino's to a friend and tell them the position to look. Very handyPros: Great low lightCons: none
