Vortex Razor HD 8×42 Binoculars RZB-2101 are lightweight, compact, bright, and incredibly clear binoculars by Vortex, ready for the most demanding tasks in the most rigorous environments. These powerful Vortex binoculars are equipped with a compact roof prism, coated in a multi-layer dielectric coating that gives you incredibly color faithful images. Each lens in these roof prism binoculars is made from premium, high density, extra-low dispersion glass and coated with Vortex’s proprietary XR anti-reflective lens coating, resulting in an extraordinarily bright image in the Vortex Razor-HD 8x Roof Prism Binoculars at any range, complete with high resolution and great contrast. Phase correction on the roof prism further improves the resolution and contrast of the binoculars. For added durability, the Vortex RazorHD 8×42 Anti-Reflective Binocular also utilizes a scratch-resistant ArmorTek lens coating that guards against exterior scratches, oil, and dirt. The Vortex Razor HD 8×42 Center Focus Binoculars are intuitive to use and ergonomic to hold, with a compact roof prism body design and a center focus wheel that will adjust the focus of both barrels at the same time. Vortex Optics has equipped the binoculars with multi-position eyecups that twist up or down to accommodate users with or without eyeglasses. The magnesium chassis of the Vortex RazorHD 8×42 Rubber Armor Binoculars decreases the weight of the center focus binoculars without sacrificing strength, and the chassis is wrapped in non-slip rubber armoring for added durability. What’s more, the Razor HD binoculars are waterproof (O-ring sealed) and fog proof (purged with argon gas). Vortex has even included several binocular accessories with the Razor HD, including a deluxe padded carrying case, tethered objective lens covers, a rain guard, and a comfortable neck strap. For high definition optics in a compact and sturdy body, choose the Vortex Razor HD 8×42 Multi-Position Eyecup Binoculars. After reading multiple reviews of the Vortex Razor 8X42 binocular and comparing the specs of it and several competitors, I decided to buy. A great decision! They are sharp, bright and solidly constructed. They are lightweight and easy to quickly focus. These are the first binoculars I have purchased in this price range, but the improvement in quality over my lesser priced binoculars is worth the added cost. As a wildlife and bird photographer, a great pair of binoculars is necessary. These binoculars give me the edge, and with Vortex's lifetime warranty, I am satisfied they may be the last binocular I'll need. Optics Planet is my go to store for this type of glass. Great products at the best price and customer service. That's what I call a win-win.

I bought these for a trip to the Black Hills in South Dakota. They worked great. Very clear and light. They replaced an 8 year old pair of Vortex Viper 10×40 binoculars (now my daughters pair). The added fov is very noticeable and good as I went back and forth between getting the 8x or 10 version. I picked the 8x version and they worked perfectly. I could glass on elk from over 1000 yards and pick up on pronghorn size from plenty far away. I'd buy them again.

Well it was either the Vortex Razor HD 8×42 or the Leupold Santiam HD. I was totally locked up in the pre-purchase decision making process. Read everything I could. Bugged the heck out of both manufacturers not to mention the wonderful customer service of OpticsPlanet. Then one day a special came through so I ordered both. In the end almost kept both too. Both are spectacular units. A friend and I spent several hours looking up down and across golf fairways in all light conditions at distances as far as we could see anything with naked eye such as tree lines etc (probably out to 2,000 yards) with and without rain with and without sun. I didn’t tell him which cost more or which I was leaning towards. Just wanted his neutral opinion. In the end I bought the Leupold and the reasoning was at a distance and in low light near dusk the Leupold had slightly crisper edges AND the field of view was in our estimation wider (which is very weird because the specs say the Vortex FOV is wider) That was it. Both have spectacular clarity, comfort, handle relatively narrow pupillary distance well, have wonderful light transmission, and are a pleasure to handle. Almost kept the Vortex just because but it would be stupid to keep two pair. Frankly if I hadn’t gotten 15% off the Leupold during a sale likely would have bought the Vortex. Bottom line: both Vortex and Leupold have made spectacular and highly competitive top end products and while I could not be happier don’t underestimate the Vortex Razor when buying as the decision was agonizing for me particularly as the Vortex is a couple of hundred dollars less expensive.

still one step behind zeiss or zwaro, but it s half the price and absolutely very near anyway…Pros: light/bright/well done

These are very close to Swarovski quality, and I would rate above Ziess or Leupold. Very bright and have tested at Dawn or Dusk. Am able to pick up fine details of grassy meadows or dark timber in the mountains in the middle of the day or at last shooting light. I was able to see almost 30 minutes later through these than my Leupold VX3 6.5-20×50 with 30mm tube riflescope…even with it set at 6.5x.Very impressive pair of binoculars at a great price point. And Vortex has a no questions asked warranty so you can feel confident taking them into the field. mud, rocks, rain, shine if anything happens they will repair or replace them for you

I think it was a bad decision for Vortex to move manufacturing to China. I just bought a new Vortex Razor HD 8×42 that was made in China from B&H. Usually, I don't require any diopter adjustment. Even with diopter adjusted to it's maximum my right eye could not be focused. The binocular was totally defective. I returned it for refund and I will never buy another Vortex product. It's makes me wonder if Vortex is inspecting the binoculars coming from China and it definitely makes me think that China's QC is not equal to Japan. I have not had any trouble with Vortex products in the past.
